Speaker 1:

If you had a dollar for every time you heard yourself or someone else say I don't have time for that, you'd probably be rich. I know life can feel like a circus, especially when you're trying to juggle it all, and I know what it's like to be pulled in a million different directions and to feel like there's never enough time to do all the things for all the people. But I really believe that what you want is possible. It just requires some decision making and intentional action. You truly can't make time or find time. You have to set it apart, and I'll show you how to make big moves and take game changing action nine minutes at a time.

Speaker 1:

She is so gifted in the work she does and I cannot wait for you to hear this conversation. It's Never Just Closed. Priscila, it is so much fun to have you on the show and I cannot wait to dive into this conversation.

Speaker 2:

Thank you so much. I've been looking forward to it all week.

Speaker 1:

I would love for you to talk to us a little bit about what it means to show up fully. What does that mean?

Speaker 2:

I love this question so much because it's one of my favorite topics. Let's backtrack a little bit. We always talk about, or we hear people saying, if you just show up is enough, just show up to the gym, just show up to work your business. While the sentiment I understand that that is true, that's just not true. Just showing up isn't enough. For example, what does it take for you to be successful in a college class? Just showing up and then sitting in the back row and taking a nap? Is that enough? No, that is just not enough.

Speaker 2:

You have to actually show up and participate. There's assignments that you need to turn in on time. There are, and then you have to demonstrate in the assignments that you actually understood what you needed to do. There's tests to show up, meaning there's a little bit more than just showing up to be successful. When I talk about that in the book and just in our lives in general, especially for women, I really mean that you don't just want to just wing it. A lot of us are just sort of winging it and just thinking, oh, I'm here, it's enough. But there's a little bit of preparation that, when you take the time to be intentional about it, can really flip the switch in many areas of your life that you're looking to change. That's what I mean when I say to show up fully present, but I mean with a little bit of intention and thought behind it.

Speaker 1:

I love that so much and I love the specificity of it. Take some preparation and intention, because if you think about the best experiences you've had in your life, preparation and intention have been key players in that experience. Right, and I love how you bring just really some simplicity to the preparation and intention. I love being a part of the style membership because you have really helped me pare down all of the decisions around what I need to wear and make it more like accessible. The preparation is easier, it's quicker, it comes together in a way that really helps people move the needle in their life, and I love I love that you make it so beautiful for people because it's so personal. That's one of my favorite favorite things about the style membership and the preparation is personal to them. The intention is moving them towards what they really want, and so when you put together this style membership, I love that you really allow people to curate their closet and their style in a personal way, in a way that's meaningful to them and isn't cookie cutter at all.

Speaker 2:

I'm never like that isn't never going to. I'm never gonna give you a list of here are the 10 things that you need to have in your closet, but it's a backtrack, just a little bit like the preparation. Showing up prepared with your closet and your clothes has a little bit of science behind it, which is called include cognition, and it's basically whatever we put on our bodies, it touches our bodies, can actually tell our brains, it sends our brain our message to say, hey, this is who you are. So that is why I like to focus style.

Speaker 2:

It's never just clothes, it's clothes that you can leverage to show up, fully present for your people, to show up for your business, to show up for whatever you have on that day. And that's where it gets so personal, right, like you can't just say, well, show up in your trench coat because that's the chic way to do that in your city. Well, that just doesn't cut it and port it up, that just doesn't, it's just not gonna work out. So what I like to do is to help you make it so simple for you to leverage your clothes every single day to curate a closet that works for your lifestyle, for who you are, what emotions it can bring about to you, so that you can really be fully present in the life that you wanna live.

Speaker 1:

It's such a game changer too, and people don't understand that it's actually science to care about what you wear. It's not frivolous, it's not shallow, it's actually scientifically proven to be beneficial to you and the people you wanna show up fully for, and it helps you be more present and engage more in your day to day. I love that so, so much. I'd love for you to tell us a little bit about the process of writing your book and how it kinda came to life.

Speaker 2:

Okay, this is such a fun conversation because I actually haven't talked to anybody about it. I just wrote a book and I said, all right, here you go. And it's amazing.

Speaker 1:

So everybody get ready to purchase the book put together.

Speaker 2:

Thank you.

Speaker 1:

Okay, everyone, get ready. It'll be in the show notes.

Speaker 2:

It's been a fun book to put together. So I was just thinking and no pun intended, I was just thinking that I had a book in me and I knew that for a long, long time and I knew it was going to be about style. I just didn't want it to be a book about style that would be dated in like in two years. Right, if I talk about, well, this is what you need to wear, when then we know, like we all have those books, and then you look at them now and you go, it looks so awful. So I knew I wanted it to be a true, timeless style book, and when I realized that it was just really like all of these beliefs that we need to have in order to show up fully and in order to feel comfortable in the clothes that you wanna wear. That being said, I'm a busy girl. I've got a lot going on. There's a lot of things. This book just it just couldn't come together.

Speaker 2:

Even though I understand the writing process I've been a writer for a long time I just could not find the time. I thought, well, maybe if I take long stretches of time, then I'll can get it done, and it just when I came to you, jennifer, I was like it's just never gonna get it. I just I have to quit everything in order to do it. And you helped me see, within the first two weeks, that we were working together. You helped me put together a time audit and what we found was where my best time was and I was using my best hour of my day to work out and to prepare for my day.

Speaker 2:

Whatever, I was not using the best hour of my day, my best brain moment, to write the dream project that was in my heart. So once we flip flopped that, it was like my whole entire day just flip flopped and in all of a sudden I you know, so it's my first hour of my day. It's like the best time I I would. I start writing and then I would get all of that out of my system and then I was able to just like show up for my day. It was incredible. So it would. Then I think it was probably about like 45 minutes a day for 30 to 45 days and the book was done and it felt effortless. It didn't feel like an extra you know burden to write. So that was really fun.

Speaker 1:

I love that so much and it was such a joy to kind of be a part of that process and watch it come to life, because once we identified when that, basically, your cognitive fuel tank was the most full which is what you needed to devote to this project for this Short, compressed amount of time, once you could find the right time and set apart the right time to take action on it.

Speaker 1:

And One of the things I love about the book so much is that it really helps people Feel a personal connection to what it can mean to them to show up fully, but also it gives some insight into who you are and how you can help lead and guide them in this process, because you are such a thought leader and you really help build this belief that will stand the test of time and the book is timeless. It is what you set it out to be and I just am so excited for more people to get to read it, to get to apply it to their life and get to take action on it, because it's just such a fresh perspective on what it means to show up and it really honors the individual person in such a beautiful way and I'm just so proud of you and so excited about it.

Speaker 2:

Thank you so much. I'm excited for Beaver to read it too.

Speaker 1:

I just can't wait. So you know, I'm gonna ask a question about nine minutes, and I really would love for you to give people an idea of something that they can do for nine minutes a day that will help them show up so they can be fully present.

Speaker 2:

I love this question and when I thought about it, I'm like, okay, this is it. You're going to Think about your outfit the night before and you're gonna set it out, that's it. And then you're gonna get dressed every day, even if you work from home, even if you're staying home like doesn't matter what the day is the next day, but the night before you're gonna set an intentional outfit and watch that, just transform your days. I do that for 30 days and just watch it.

Speaker 1:

Your it just changed the way you think about yourself a Million percent making the decision in advance, having that loop closed when you wake up in the morning and then not having to Decide anything you literally have to just put on the clothes. It's amazing. And the other thing I love about that is that you said, even if you're staying home because again that Enclothed cognition comes into play and when you're staying at home you need to function at a high level, I mean, unless you're not feeling well, but even when you're not feeling well, if you have cupa jamas, you're gonna feel well a lot faster. But I think that it's so important to make those decisions in advance. I just love it so, so much and it's so important. I would love to hear what your favorite way to put nine minutes to good uses if you're not using it to make a Decision about what you're gonna wear the next day.

Speaker 2:

This is. I love this question again because I it just it. Nine minutes. Really. There's so much that you can do in nine minutes. It is crazy. My favorite way to spend my nine minutes in a way that I find that super productive and aligns with my values is actually After we, at home from school with the kids, we spend. I make sure that we have nine to ten minutes. That's just me and them, and If they're available, they don't always want to spend time with my mom, that's okay, but when they do, you know, really, instead of going right into dinner plans or whatever the next thing is, we are just spending some time together, and that has been Near and dear to my heart to do that.

Speaker 1:

And you know what they are gonna remember that time and even right now, when they feel like they're off to the races and ready for the Next thing. They are gonna be 51 years old and think about that time that you intentionally poured into them and I can guarantee that it is gonna be a game changer and have such a long lasting impact. I would love for you to share with people now where they can find you and Something that you're really excited to be working on right now.

Speaker 2:

Okay, best place to find me is on Instagram. I am at Priscilla with one L underscore C, underscore Smith. That will be on the show notes, I'm sure, and where you can find, like, all the things that are happening there. There's two things I'm really excited about. One is inside the style membership. We're doing this thing called the One Piece Challenge.

Speaker 1:

Ooh, I love it so much.

Speaker 2:

It is such a fun challenge to help you level up the way you shop, to really think about you know, with intention, about how you go about shopping and really level up your closet. So I'm super excited about it. I am stumbling my way through it in the best way possible, which I love.

Speaker 1:

I was so good, though, like.

Speaker 1:

I just have to say, as someone who's in it, it is so good and it reshapes and reframes your thinking around how you're building and curating your closet and it's actually fun. It's actually fun to like dream big about the things that you really wanna have in your closet and you need to get in the style membership if you wanna get in on this action, because Priscilla will lead the way and guide you straight to what is going to be the best thing for you, because she teaches you so many things that make getting ready so much easier. And I didn't mean to interrupt you, but I just had to share that because it's so important.

Speaker 2:

It is so fun, thank you. It's nice to hear from other people like what are you crazy? So I'm very excited about that. The other thing I'm really excited about is that my kids and I just launched an accessories line that we are so excited about. We did it over Valentine's and there's more drops coming. We're just working on it and really diving into the creative process of that and the idea is to just really bring cool girl jewelry energy to whatever outfits you have and to really kinda add that finishing touch to your outfits. So I'm very excited about that.

Speaker 1:

Those things are so exciting. It's so exciting and I love the cool girl vibe because, let me tell you, I have two pieces from you and they get me so excited and I love just putting them on because it just levels whatever I'm wearing up and how I'm feeling. It levels how I'm feeling up too and really is one of those things. It's a key ingredient to showing up more fully, because I know that I can grab one of those pieces and it's just gonna. I mean, I could have a white T-shirt on and I could grab one of those pieces and it levels it up and helps me feel better. Throw a jean jacket on and you'd think that I'd planned my outfit for weeks, because that's how I feel.

Speaker 1:

You know, that's how I feel and I don't have to spend weeks planning my outfits anymore because I'm in the style membership and Priscilla leads the way.

Speaker 2:

Now you have a curated closet and that's the beauty of it A closet that works for you, that's you know. Life is so short not to have that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's a game changer.

Speaker 1:

And the one other thing I just wanna add really quickly is that it doesn't have to cost a lot of money.

Speaker 1:

I think that a lot of times when people hear style, they see dollar signs and I really want people to understand that it doesn't have to cost a lot of money because, especially being part of the style membership, you learn how to be mindful of what you purchase. You get more confident in repeating what you're wearing and I think that's one thing for me. Like as I've curated my closet, I'm like I can wear this 10 times if I want to, because it meets my style words, it hits all the buttons and it makes me feel some kind of way that is gonna help me show up more fully for people, and I think that's really important to think about. And I also think that the trainings that you offer within the style membership I mean priceless priceless because they are so helpful in making it personal. None of them make you feel like you have to be like someone else. It really helps you understand what helps you feel good and helps you show up. I know that's at the heart of so much of what you do.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I really think that's. I mean, if you think about the most stylish person, you know they're going to be so themselves, so unique themselves, you know, like you don't think, oh, if they're dressed like everybody else, normally they don't. You know, it doesn't like speak to you as much. So that's what I really want, and also for you If you are dressed like somebody else, that's not doing anything for you, right, but if you're dressed like yourself, that's what really you know people want you and nobody else. So I love that you can see that throughout as a common thread, throughout all the training. That's awesome.

Speaker 1:

Oh for sure, and it's a common thread throughout your entire brand. Like everything you do is helping make it personal to people and not take all day and really helps people be able to do it in a short amount of time within whatever budget they're working with, and they can take action on it, because all they need to do is have a little preparation and intention, come together with your leadership and guidance, and it's so, so valuable. I love it so much. I loved every second of this conversation. I'm so excited for people to get put together in their hot little hands and if you are listening today, you can find all of Priscilla's info in the show notes and here's to showing up more fully so you can be more present with your people nine minutes at a time. Priscilla, thanks so much. I love every minute of our conversation.

Speaker 2:

Me too. Thank you so much.

Speaker 1:

Thanks so much for listening today. Do you have questions you'd love to ask, but don't because you aren't sure who to ask, or you'd rather not let the world in on not having it all together? I get it. I get lots of questions all the time, from parenting to business development to Bible study, recommendations to the best meal to serve a crowd and even how to navigate hard conversations. My husband and kids call me Google and since I'm a problem solver by nature and love research, it sort of fits. So I am so excited to answer your questions. You can share your questions with me by DMing me on Instagram at Jennifer Seiss and I'll answer your questions on an upcoming episode. So here's to more intentional connection and less grind. Nine minutes at a time.
